The dates are set for the 2019 Release Retreat in Iowa Fucking City! Join us for hooks, seminars, camping, fire, and 3 days of fun in the sun during one of Iowa’s most beautiful times of the year!

This outdoor event will have at least 3 vertical suspension points, including a point designated for a spinning beam! There will also be a cube and one or two freestanding rig points. Of course plenty of space to put up a tent, and even some indoor sleeping areas that can be reserved this time around! There’s an oven and stove, grills, refrigerator/freezer and a grocery store within a 10 minute drive. Attendees are encouraged to bring food, and we can most likely correlate a group meal at least one of the nights. No WiFi, but most cellular carriers will at least somewhat work. Private Showers!! Well behaved animals/pets (and children😏) are welcome!

The closest airport is Cedar Rapids- CID MLI and DSM are also both within an hour or 2. Chicago is a little over 3 hours away. There will be a “shuttle” to CID, & with enough notice, we may be able to pick you up, or at least help schedule a bus into Iowa City from the other listed airports.

While the event was originally formulated more around actually suspending than education, this year we will also be offering a few classes/workshops, *to those that qualify for eligibility. As of now, confirmed workshop intensives are as follows:

“Suspension Rigging 101” (open to all!) (above AND below the rig plate, including the essential knots of suspension)

“Suspending in the Elements” (open to all!) (a basic organization, set up, and practice of outdoor suspensions, including outdoor rigging scenarios)

“Wound Assessment and Appropriate Closure Techniques” (including, but not limited to, the most comprehensive hands on suturing I’ve ever taught) must meet eligibility specifications

Each one of these classes will have a designated time slot on a specified day; one class each day (unless we add more) and the costs for all are already factored into the cost of admission for participants.

The location of this event is a familiar one from our past, and it is a (Giving) comfortable, private, and safe space. Chances are, this will be the last event of its kind in the Iowa City area for the foreseeable future, so let’s end it on a wonderful note!
